09.01.2007 LISBON (Reuters) - Portuguese civil servants often complain about low pay, but many have forgotten that they can bring home a few extra euros by walking more. Under Portuguese law, members of the country's bloated public sector are entitled to a "marching subsidy" of 0.15 euros ($0.19) for every kilometre they walk on official business. They get just 0.12 euros per kilometre if they take a bus or train.
